OB/GYN Dr. Nita Landry shares that women today are 50% more likely to die in childbirth than our own mothers were. Monifa Bandele, SVP of Moms Rising, shares that there are three main reasons why death rates are on the rise: preeclampsia, postpartum hemorrhaging, and women feeling like they’re not being listened to. It’s impacting all women, but the highest rate of maternal mortality affects African American women, who are 3-4 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications.
