Psychiatrist Dr. Sue Varma shares that she’s seen a rise of 10-30% of benzodiazepine prescriptions during the pandemic. She says that benzos are extremely effective in the short term, and so many doctors prescribe them for people experiencing panic and anxiety, but she warns that this type of prescription should be monitored by a psychiatrist because they can be addictive.
