A 9-month-old girl needed surgery after swallowing star-shaped confetti. The star was lodged in her throat for 11 days before doctors realized. She was brought into the hospital coughing up blood and she had developed a fever. The lodged piece of confetti had formed a large abscess in the child’s airways that was removed.
