As a kid, Dr. Russell Ledet shares that he was digging in the dumpsters for dinner. After high school, he joined the Navy, then decided to go to college with dreams of being a social worker. To make ends meet he got a job as a security guard at a hospital. He loved being in the ER and shares the power of seeing his first African American surgeon. Ten years later, he became a doctor and he also created a nonprofit that promotes racial diversity in the medical field.
