Every 14 minutes someone is added to the kidney transplant list, but black patients are facing an extra hurdle. Researchers found one-third of black patients would have been labeled with a more severe kidney disease had it not been for different physiological indices based on their race. Meet Nichole, a kidney care advocate who has experienced this firsthand. She shares that black patients are not being treated properly and they are at an extreme disadvantage in the healthcare system.
