Angie’s Heart

Eight-year-old Angie was born with a congenital heart defect; the right ventricle of her heart did not develop properly.  Angie's skin, lips and fingertips were perpetually blue due to the lack of oxygenated blood in her system; normal activities such as walking or climbing a flight of stairs proved nearly impossible. Cedars-Sinai Medical Center's leading pediatric cardiac specialist, Dr. Greg Fontana, performed the delicate surgery that restored Angie's heart function and gave her a chance at a normal life.
