Nora's aunt had visited Mexico to receive liposuction, but her family was unable to get any answers from surgeons and they weren’t being allowed to see her aunt. With no improvement, her aunt was taken out of Mexico, and brought to a San Diego hospital. There Nora and her family learned the tragic news that her aunt was brain dead.
