Green bananas aren’t very ripe but they are filled with more resistant starch. This makes them a bit harder on your system to digest which can lead to gas and bloating. However, they are lower on the Glycemic Index (GI) which is a good thing! The lower a food is, the less it will spike your blood sugar.
Pick up a yellow banana and it will be easier to digest but higher on the GI. The upside? More antioxidants! If you grab a brown banana the number of antioxidants increases. The downside is that brown banana is higher in sugar.
