The ketogenic diet is gaining mass popularity and one recipe that’s making the rounds in the keto community is keto butter. The Doctors are here to try it out!
Keto butter is a mixture of avocado, butter, lime juice, and salt. It’s high-fat, low-carb which is what those on the keto diet look for. “It tastes like really buttery guacamole,” dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra says.
ER physician Dr. Travis Stork says compared to regular butter which has saturated fat, he likes how this one has a lot of antioxidants and healthy unsaturated fat from the avocado. However, he says he would just choose to mash up a plain avocado instead.
“From a pure health perspective, just pure avocado spread loaded with spices” would be Dr. Travis’ recommendation!
