Hop on a bicycle for your health! If you want to keep your immune system 30 years younger, cycling is the sport for you! The Doctors share a study out of the University of Birmingham in England where researchers carried out tests on 125 amateur cyclist ages 55-79 years old.
They compared the cyclist to healthy adults who did not exercise and found the cyclist had an immune function as good as people who were 30 years younger. Additionally, the study showed people who cycled regularly did not have a loss of muscle mass and strength.
The cyclist also did not increase body fat or cholesterol levels with age and the testosterone levels remained the same in men. OB/GYN Dr. Nita Landry says according to another study, cycling decreased the rate of death by 40 percent!
