As outlandish as this claim sounds, The Doctors explain dandruff is caused by a yeast infection on the scalp and mouthwash contains anti-fungal properties, which can actually treat the issue.

The panel notes the best way to treat a dry and flaky scalp is to use a shampoo designed specifically treat the issue and feel the mouthwash might suit someone with a mild case of dandruff. They also warn the alcohol in many types of mouthwash could exacerbate the issue and cause further irritation on the scalp.
