Before you get your next cosmetic procedure, find out what plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon says offers patients the best bang for their buck.
Dr. Ordon explains there are 4 tiers to getting the most from your cosmetic work. He suggests the following:
Tier 1 - At-home facial rejuvenation: For the budget-minded, he suggests staying on top of a skincare routine, including cleansing, steaming, exfoliating the skin, and the use of retinol or retinoids, which will increase collagen in the skin and reduce wrinkles. He says to start with a low concentration of retinol or retinoids to avoid skin irritation.
Tier 2 - Injectables: If you are looking to spend a little more, start with injections. He says there is a wide range of injectables available including popular options like Botox. Dr. Ordon says they will address wrinkles and lines Of course, these need to be administered by a doctor and should never be done at home.
Tier 3 - Lasers For the next level up, the plastic surgeon says the best bang for your buck is fractional C02 laser resurfacing, which is a slightly invasive procedure that results in scabbing, but it will tighten the skin, and reduce wrinkles, lines, and spots. He also notes some degree of skin tightening can also be achieved with this type of treatment.
Tier 4 - Invasive procedures like a lift or tuck: If you do have a large amount of money for major cosmetic surgery, Dr. Ordon says the option that truly provides the most bang is a procedure like a facelift, which will have the most noticeable lasting effect. He advises that a facelift can be enhanced with the previously mentioned tier options as needed.
