Food blogger and registered dietician Chelsey Amer joins The Doctors to share three healthy recipes that anyone with a sweet tooth will love!
Chunky Monkey Pudding
Chocolate for breakfast? Yes, please! This recipe contains only five ingredients: chia seeds, cacao powder, cinnamon, banana and any milk of choice. Mix this up the night before and you’ll have breakfast ready to grab and go in the morning. This pudding has fiber, protein, healthy fats and antioxidants! The chia seeds can absorb up to nine times their weight in water which is what gives this it’s pudding-like consistency.
Just toss all the pizza crust ingredients which include avocado, sunflower seed butter, coconut oil, coconut flour, coconut milk and coffee in a blender and then put it into a dish to bake for 25 minutes. The fun is in the topping. Chelsey suggests adding yogurt, berries, more seeds and chocolate chips. The Doctors all love the taste and dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra points out making this would be a great activity to do with kids!
Carrot Cake Waffles
Chelsey says many of her clients want to eat waffles and pancakes for breakfast but say they leave them sluggish. Not these waffles which have a whopping 13g of protein. Again, using a blender, you can make the waffle batter from eggs, chia seeds and flaxseeds, and then just pour into a waffle iron. Chelsey notes this also gets some veggies into your breakfast which is always a good thing!
