The Sullivan Police Department said they received a surge of reports about strange incidents including residents barking like dogs, the breaking of windows, unexplained screaming and people causing mayhem. Authorities believe the incidents can be traced back to the drug flakka. In this case, authorities believe flakka was mixed with meth.
The Doctors say flakka, which is made from the compound Alpha-PVP, has a similar makeup to bath salts, a drug that has also been known to cause extreme and unusual behavior. Flakka can be consumed via eating, snorting, and through vaping.
The Doctors note that the substance is technically legal, and the people were arrested for their behavior and actions and not the consumption of the flakka.
