Running coach Alysha Flynn (who has run an impressive 10 marathons) has coached runners around the world and specializes in helping beginners and women looking to run after giving birth.

She says people looking to get into running should avoid "holding their past fitness on a pedestal" and also avoid looking ahead too far off. She says she has had to restart her training and progress twice after having two C-sections, noting that life changes and setbacks can easily happen, but says they should not hold you back from your fitness goals.

Alysha's tip for beginning runners: watch your form and be mindful of how your arms move. Instead of swinging your arms side to side or having them cross during the run, make sure to swing them back and forth along your sides as you run. She says this form will make the run more productive and feel easier.
