Phaedra is a mom to 2 boys, who are 7 and 10, and she tells celebrity hypnotist and author Kimberly Friedmutter she is feeling "super anxious and super stressed" parenting in the midst of a pandemic. She also reveals she has been dealing with insomnia and stress about co-parenting.
Kimberly takes Phaedra through a guided hypnosis session where she has her focus on her instinct to protect as a parent and also gratitude, where she tells her to focus on all the successful parenting choices she has made and will continue to make.
After undergoing hypnosis, Phaedra tells Dr. Ian Smith the session was "life-changing" and reveals for the first time since the start of the pandemic she was finally able to get a full night of sleep. She also says it shifted her perspective and has helped her focus more on the joys of parents and less on her feelings of stress.
Kimberly says we can all benefit from the principles of hypnosis and shares tips on de-stressing, which include
De-focus: This is when someone uses their peripheral vision, which can help you focus on the bigger picture and less on the little details which may be causing you to feel anxious.
Trust your instincts: She says to always trust your gut and urges us to stay in touch with our primal feelings.
Let it go: When feeling stressed, Kimberly suggests taking a break which should help to ease that sense of urgency you are feeling.
Take a bow: The hypnotist says acknowledging your wins and successes will help you continue to make the best choices going forward.
