The Doctors discuss the alarming case of a man who contracted a rare infection while on vacation and one of his testicles swelled up and "burst."
The 59-year-old man was reportedly diagnosed with African salmonella and suffered a swollen genital a few weeks after contracting the rare disease. The man says the pain from the swelling was so intense that it caused him to cry tears. He only found relief after the swollen testicle "exploded."
Urologist and author of “The Penis Book,” Dr. Aaron Spitz joins The Doctors to discuss the case and explains that the build-up of pus that the man reportedly experienced is the body's defense system attempting to destroy the bacteria.
"If you've got some pain or swelling down there, don't hesitate, don't be embarrassed. Get in and get checked," Dr. Spitz suggests, noting that while it is rare that there are cases of cancer presenting in this manner.
