The Doctors are joined by dermatologist Dr. Wendy Roberts to discuss how to revitalize hair growth.
Most people might associate hair loss with men, but Dr. Roberts notes that women also experience the loss of their hair. In fact, over the course of their lifetime about one-third of women will experience thinning hair. She says that millions of people, both men and women, struggle with hair loss.
Dr. Andrew Ordon says it’s normal for people to shed 50 to 100 hairs a day, while new hair is growing in at the same time. "When the cycle of hair growth and shedding is disrupted or the hair follicle is destroyed and replaced with scar tissue, hair loss can become noticeable." He adds that stress and illness can also be a factor in hair loss.
In addition to suggesting stress reduction and avoiding unhealthy hairstyles, Dr. Roberts, a spokesperson for Vitalize Hair, tells her patients to use the Vitalize Hair Care System. She says she likes that the products have natural ingredients. According to a Vitalize Hair clinical study, the products have shown that they can help by targeting the hair follicle stem cells to rebalance hair’s natural cycle of growth. The study also found it is safe for both men and women of all ethnicities.
Dr. Ordon also notes the importance of eating a balanced diet, explaining that shortfalls in protein and iron -- as well as sudden or excessive weight loss -- can cause hair to fall out.
Please consult your doctor if you have concerns about hair loss.
