Playing Morbidly Obese Chiweenie Faith Hits Her Goal Weight!

Struggling to lose weight is not limited to just people! The Doctors noted how over the last year so many pets have gained weight, and we are happy to share how one adorable dog was able to drop the pounds and reach her goal weight.

Faith is a Chiweenie (a cross between the Chihuahua and the Dachshund) and when she was found in a shelter the dog was morbidly obese and could barely walk.

The dog was fostered by a family and when they took her to see a veterinarian, it was discovered she weighed 30 pounds (which is a lot for this type of dog) and her size was affecting her quality of life. The family was determined to help Faith and they got to work helping her transform her body.

Faith was given a new type of food and began exercising while partially submerged in water 3 to 4 times a week. As Faith lost weight, she was found to be more confident, more playful, and able to move around much easier -- including being able to finally fit through her doggie door.

After 8 months of hard work, the dog was able to drop half her body weight and transformed herself. The Doctors are happy to share that in addition to improving her health, Faith also found her forever home with the family that fostered her.

If you have a pet that has recently gained weight, learn how to safely help your furry friend, and please speak to your veterinarian.
