Denise, who has end-stage renal disease (which causes the kidneys to not function properly) was on the transplant list for 5 years and a routine doctor's appointment lead to a life-changing meeting with Erika, a hospital tech who donated one her kidneys to Denise after only meeting her once.

"It feels very overwhelming that someone would give part of them to a total stranger they don't even know," Denise tells us. "She has been a blessed angel."
"If I can be kind and change someone for the better, then I'm going to do it," Erika, who tells use she comes a from a family of recipients and donors, says of her decision to donate her kidney.

Denise and Erika are happy to share with The Doctors the transplant went really well and they are both recovering. Denise now considers Erika "family." "There are not enough words in this world to thank someone who is so generous and giving... she's just an angel and she will always be my angel," Denise says of her donor.
