Dermatologist Dr. Sonia Batra demonstrates a device, TheraClear, which combines suction and broadband light, which she says can kill bacteria and help to decrease inflammation of the skin.
Dr. Batra explains that the suction removes the sebum and oil, which clogs the pores, while also killing bacteria. She calls it a "one-two punch" for acne and notes that you do not need antibiotics for this treatment.
She says the device can be used on any skin types and would suggest using it for cases of mild to moderate acne. She says this treatment consists of 4 to 6 treatments, usually 1 to 2 weeks apart.
Malena, who underwent the treatment with Dr. Batra, says she did not feel any pain during the procedure.
