The Emmy Award-winning journalist and founder of Vegan Sexy Cool, who went vegan for ethical reasons, says giving up animal products helped her with the persistent knee pain she had and she says being plant-based can reduce inflammation in the body. Her tips for going vegan include:

Start with dairy: She notes there are plant-based alternatives for almost every dairy product and she says oat milk is one of her favorite swaps.

Switch out your snacks and desserts: Like dairy products, there are vegan versions of ice cream, cakes, cookies, brownies, and more that will help you feel like you are still indulging while not having to give up favorite foods.

Swap out your meats: Jacque says there are so many plant-based meat alternatives now available and many taste like the real thing.
