The Doctors share how a recent study from the Journal of American Medical Association found that overweight individuals who used fitness trackers and compared their results with others were able to rack up close to 1000 extra steps each day.
"Having just a little of a challenge that you are doing with your friend and family, it makes sense," ER physician Dr. Travis Stork says of the idea of introducing some friendly competition into a fitness routine.
The Doctors suggest picking an activity you enjoy when setting out on a step competition. If you do not enjoy jogging, they suggest walking or hiking. They note adding even 20 to 30 minutes of activity each day can have tremendous health benefits.
