The Doctors are joined by celebrity chef Devin Alexander who discusses her journey of becoming a mother.
Devin says her greatest accomplishment is her daughter Cayenne, who she adopted through the Los Angeles foster care system. She is hoping to inspire others to consider fostering and adopting.
During a visit with her doctor, she was unexpectedly told that getting pregnant even through IVF would be very difficult and she was advised not to pursue it.
Instead of giving up on her dream of becoming a parent, she looked into the foster care system, an area the chef had previously done philanthropy work in. She met her daughter when she was just 3 days old and Devin says she was in awe from the very first moment. Devin fostered daughter Cayenne for 15 months and then was able to adopt her.
"There are these beautiful souls out there looking for love," she says of the children in need of foster care or adoption, and she urges people looking to expand their family to consider this option.
More information on fostering or adopting a child can be found at RaiseAChild.org, Adoptuskids.org, and the National Foster Parent Association.
