Vicki Lawrence, best known for playing the feisty Thelma “Mama” Harper on Mama’s Family, joins The Doctors to dish on the latest celebrity health headlines, take a mystery food challenge and give tips on how to stay young!
"Mama, what do you do to look so good," ER physician Dr. Travis Stork asks.
“Prune juice,” Mama says. “Or as I call it: Nature’s Drano.”
Vicki opens up to ER physician Dr. Travis Stork and family medicine physician and sexologist Dr. Rachael Ross about her recent medical crisis — normally associated with teenagers — that struck her when she least expected it.
"I had to have an appendectomy this past summer," Vicki says. "I was, like, writhing in pain in the bedroom. And Al comes in — my husband — and he's sittin' on the foot of the bed, and he's eating leftovers, and he says, 'It's something you ate.' And I said, 'We ate the same damn thing, you moron!' He's eating away! And I'm like, 'It's not, no.'"
Travis explains that the symptoms of appendicitis can be confusing, but you shouldn't wait to see a doctor if you develop severe abdominal pain, fever or nausea.
