The Doctors meet Zach who has had an incredible weight-loss. He shares that for as long as he could remember, he was overweight. As a child, he ate two school lunches, fast food, and when his brother was diagnosed with leukemia, he used food to comfort himself. By the time he was in high school, he couldn’t fit into the desks and found even walking in the halls left him breathless.
Zach tells the story of a trip to an amusement park where he wasn’t able to fit on any of the rides as “one of the most embarrassing days in my life.” At the age of 19, when Zach’s father had a heart attack, he had his turning point. He went to the doctor, had some tests run, weighing in at 463 pounds and diagnosed with hypertension, Zach knew he needed to make a change.
Today, Zach is less than half the size he was and he shows off his 223-pound physique in a specially tailored suit by Men’s Wearhouse. Zach lost about 100 pounds each year for 2 years. He shares that after his weight loss he had excess skin and underwent surgery to remove it.
OB/GYN Dr. Nita Landry says Zach is the perfect example of what hard work and dedication looks like. Zach says he lost weight by cleaning up his diet and exercising. Zach is now a personal trainer and in a relationship with Jordan, his girlfriend whom he met through the weight-loss community.
Zach’s message to others that want to lose weight naturally is, “You can do it. Don’t feel hopeless and don’t feel like you don’t know where to start. It’s just as simple as getting online, looking up how many calories you should be intaking, and just cleaning up your diet.”
