The importance of humor and laughter is front and center in new documentary “Dying Laughing,” which features the Chris Rock, Jerry Seinfeld, Amy Schumer, Kevin Hart, Bob Saget, Jamie Foxx, Sarah Silverman, Jerry Lewis, Steve Coogan, Bobby Lee, and the late Garry Shandling.
Three of the film’s producers Kira Soltanovich, Paul Provenza, and Suli McCullough (who is also a Doctors' staffer!) join ER physician Dr. Travis Stork to chat about the film.
“We look at the agony and ecstasy of comedy because when it’s going well, it’s great. But there are times when it’s not going well… we all have bombing stories,” Suli says of the film’s many candid accounts about the ups and downs of being a standup comic. The film is also helping to raise money for The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of Garry Shandling’s brother, who had the disease.
Dr. Stork loves how this film could possibly help your health by lowering your heart rate and lowering blood pressure – assuming you’re laughing! “This is legit medicine people,” he says.
Check out “Dying Laughing” now available on iTunes, VOD and in select theaters!
