More and more people are seeking help from a therapist, but how do you find the right one?
Arlene, who is dealing with work-related stress, has seen multiple therapists but she has not clicked with any of them. She asks The Doctors and psychiatrist Dr. Nikole Benders-Hadi from Doctor On Demand for tips on how to find a therapist that is the right match for her.
Much like dating, Dr. Benders-Hadi says to have these 3 questions in mind when meeting with a new therapist. They include:
- Is this person interested in me?
- Can I say anything?
- Does this person make me better?
Dr. Benders-Hadi also encourages new patients to not write off a therapist after the first meeting and to go to at least 3 appointments before deciding.
