Much like dating, Dr. Benders-Hadi says to have these 3 questions in mind when meeting with a new therapist. They include:

  • Is this person interested in me?
  • Can I say anything?
  • Does this person make me better?

Dr. Benders-Hadi also encourages new patients to not write off a therapist after the first meeting and to go to at least 3 appointments before deciding.
