The Doctors examine the scary 911 call of a 9-year-old girl calling from inside the car claiming her father was drunk and she feared they were going to get into an accident.
In the horrifying call, the child is heard telling the 911 operator, “I’m terrified right now” as she pleads with her dad to stop the car. When the man finally stopped at his parents’ house, he was arrested and charged with a DUI and endangering the lives of his children.
Surgical breast specialist Dr. Kristi Funk shares the sobering statistic that two-thirds of all the kids who've been killed due to drunk driving are being driven by those who are supposed to be caring for them. “She was brave and smart,” she says of the little girl who made the call. “We should teach our children when there are appropriate situations of when they should dial 911, how do you dial 911.”
“I hope it’s a wake-up call,” Plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon says of the man charged.
The Doctors remind everyone that even just a few glasses of wine can lead to being an impaired driver and stress the importance of a designated driver, a taxi or using a ride-sharing app.
