ER physician Dr. Travis Stork has a new book that will help you gain a better understanding of what exactly is going on inside your gut and how it affects your weight and health.
“It’s a revolutionary way to think about how we’re eating and also how we’re living,” he says of his book, “The Lose Your Belly Diet: Change Your Gut, Change Your Life.”
He was inspired to pen the book because of the huge role our gut bacteria plays in our overall health, weight, immune disorders, autoimmune conditions and possibly many more health connections as science evolves and better understands the trillions of bacteria living inside our gut.
Dr. Stork shares his tips on how to maintain healthy bacteria in the gut while increasing your fiber intake, which is responsible for a large component of one’s gut bacteria.
- Instead of meat, use beans and lentils for increased fiber
- Eat high fiber fruits and vegetables like raspberries, blackberries, green peas, artichokes
- Pick a high-fiber cereal for the breakfast
- Try and incorporate flaxseeds into meals
He stresses that this approach is not so much about eating less, but about eating right.
“It’s not about restriction. It’s about feeding ourselves and our gut,” he explains.
In the video below, The Doctors welcome guests who have tried The Lose Your Belly Diet. Find out how much weight the participants lost and how they are feeling since trying out Dr. Stork’s new approach to maintaining the best gut bacteria possible.
“The Lose Your Belly Diet: Change Your Gut, Change Your Life” is available now on The Book Nook and everywhere on December 27.
"The Lose Your Belly Diet" is published by Ghost Mountain Books, which is owned, in part, by The Doctors’ executive producer.
