Death by pimple popping!? The Doctors weigh in on a report circulating online which claims popping nose pimples can kill you.
The viral post claims there is a “triangle of death” surrounding the nose area that contains a series of blood vessels that lead directly to the brain. It goes on to claim that an infection can lead to vision loss, paralysis and possibly death.
The Doctors went to the foremost authority when it comes to pimple popping dermatologist Sandra Lee – aka Dr. Pimple Popper – who set the record straight on this claim.
Sandra says that “technically yes” it can lead to death, but says, “The chances are slim to none.” She goes on to explain that this part of the body is sensitive and susceptible to infection, but because of the wonders of modern medicine and antibiotics it usually never gets to a deadly point.
She adds, “The moral of the story is, don’t pop your pimples! Let me pop them!”
The Doctors note that the “triangle of death” is something they learn about in medical school, but say they have never seen a case where a pimple in this area has led to death. So pop those pimples if you must, but be mindful it can lead to scarring and sometimes infection.
