Paper Cut Almost Kills Man!

Playing Near Deadly Paper Cut?!

For one New Jersey man a paper cut almost cut his life short!

Like so many of us, Michael got a paper cut, but his finger slice took a dire turn for the worse when it became infected and he developed sepsis. The sepsis created such an extreme infection and he was given only a 50 percent chance of surviving.

Thankfully, he lived through the horrendous ordeal and joins The Doctors to share his story.

He says that one day after he cut himself, his finger become red and infected, but he cleaned it and went to work. His finger only continued to get worse. In an effort to curb the pain, he took Tylenol and went to sleep, but he says awoke to a “pounding” in his finger and then went to the hospital. He was admitted to Kennedy Hospital in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a hospital with a nationally-recognized Sepsis Program. Michael was placed in a medically induced coma for 18 days while they treated him.

“If it wasn’t for them, I wouldn’t be talking to you probably,” he says, crediting the amazing care he received by the staff at the hospital for saving his life and his finger.

ER physician Dr. Travis Stork makes clear that developing sepsis from a paper cut is “very uncommon.” The Doctors explain that Michael’s case is a great example that if something simple like a cut, causes you to not feel well, to seek medical attention.
