The man who inspired many people to become doctors and brought smiles to many others by inventing the popular game Operation nearly 50 years ago is planning to put the prototype of the game up for auction to help pay for dental work he needs.
John says he is in pain after two teeth and several fillings have fallen out and bridges have deteriorated. The necessary dental work would cost an estimated $25,000.
His wife, Madeline, says John always has had a broad beautiful smile, but he’s been holding that back. “He’s had difficulty dealing with this. It’s been a form of depression, especially the last year,” she says.
Watch John visits cosmetic surgeon Dr. Bill Dorfman for a consultation, and hear what Dr. Dorfman recommends to restore John’s smile.
