A Surprise for Dr. Sears
In an emotional moment that brings pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears to tears, ER physician Dr. Travis Stork reads a letter from a former patient of Dr. Sears. In the letter, Stephen says that Dr. Sears was a driving force who inspired him to lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle.

“It wasn’t until I met Dr. Sears and was able to work with him to figure out why, in fact, I was eating the way I was eating [and] why my behaviors were the way they were. Dr. Sears really inspired me in a way that other pediatricians hadn’t,” Stephen says.

Stephen joins The Doctors on stage and reveals that he’s in his fourth year of medical school and hopes to become a pediatrician, just like Dr. Sears. Then, Dr. Sears discusses his own weight loss journey and how it motivated him to share his story with others.

“When doctors truly become invested in patients … it really makes a difference,” Dr. Travis says.
