Get THIN By Summer: 13 SECRETS You Haven’t Heard!

Looking to lose a few pounds before summer? Whether it’s to look better in your bikini or to lower your risk of diabetes and heart disease, the Doctors reveal 13 weight-loss tips you haven’t heard.

13. Switch to Seaweed Bread
In one particular study, researchers removed the salt from bread and replaced it with seaweed. They found that people who ate seaweed bread, as opposed to bread containing salt, ate 179 fewer calories throughout the day.

Childhood Vaccinations

Pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears and CVS MinuteClinic family nurse practitioner Meredith Dixon discuss important vaccinations to keep your chilld protected.

E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork chooses an audience member to try seaweed bread vs. regular bread. Could she tell the difference?

12. Eat Green Coffee Beans
Green coffee beans are merely unroasted coffee beans; however, research shows that adding one green coffee capsule to your weight-loss plan can help you drop pounds faster. Unroasted coffee beans contain a chemical called chlorogenic acid, which may be responsible for the fat-burning effect. Chlorogenic acid is a common dietary polyphenol found in many plants including certain fruits and green tea.

11. Try a Pantyhose Resistance Workout
Don’t have resistance bands handy? Use a pair of pantyhose!

“Just 20 minutes of resistance [exercise] can expend at least 100 calories,” OB/GYN Dr. Lisa Masterson says.

Watch The Doctors work out with neon pantyhose.

10. Discover New Protein: Hemp
Protein has been found to increase metabolism and help with weight-loss. One serving of hemp powder contains 11 grams of protein, just about as much as two hardboiled eggs. Hemp is also hypoallergenic, easily digestible and the plant itself is environmentally friendly, as it sustains without much water.

“This is not marijuana,” pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears confirms. “It’s completely different.”

Learn about alternatives to hemp, such as tempeh protein, cashew cheese and more.

9. Hold the Butter
Restaurants generally use at least 2 tablespoons of butter on vegetables, which adds 120 calories! You can avoid this fat trap by telling your server to hold the butter.

"Just be honest with your waiter," Dr. Travis says. "You're paying to be served food."

8. Be Your Own Cheerleader
Being your own cheerleader is a great way to stay motivated, and no one knows more about motivation than fitness guru Richard Simmons!

“This is your only body and you have to take care of it for the rest of your life because no one can do it for you,” Richard says. “You have to learn how to eat right and you have to exercise.”

7. Get a Healthy Dose of Fear with a Coronary Calcium Scan
Studies show overweight people are more likely to lose weight after seeing their clogged arteries through a coronary calcium scan, an x-ray that shows plaque build-up in the arteries, which causes heart attacks. Witnessing the real-time consequences their lifestyle choices have on their bodies motivates them to make a change. Could it help you or someone you love?

3. Avoid Late-Night Snacks
An important step to losing weight is to stray from late night eating; however, a new 24-hour cupcake ATM may make the task a little harder.

Sprinkles Cupcakes opened a first-of-its-kind automatic cupcake machine recently in front of its Beverly Hills store. It works just like a normal ATM, however instead of cash, you get a cupcake.

The Doctors recommend avoiding sweets as often as possible, but Dr. Lisa shares a tip if you desperately need your sweets fix.

“For those of us who need a little cupcake fix, there’s a way to cheat,” Dr. Lisa says. “Just take the frosting off and you can remove about 200 calories, but try not to [eat cupcakes] at night.”

2. Go Bananas
“Bananas are a great fruit loaded with potassium, which helps you rebuild muscles,” Dr. Travis says. “It’s a great snack alternative.”

But if you’re bored with eating bananas in their natural state, try making banana ice cream with the Yonanas ice cream maker, which turns frozen fruits into a soft-serve treat.
