"If you are prone to sitting at your desk for prolonged periods [of time], occasionally, just stand up and stretch everything out," E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork says.

Dr. Hoffmann explains that standing up and walking around for five minutes out of every 45 minutes of sitting has positive effects on your back health. "Get the blood flowing, stretch out your muscles," she says. "Just take a couple minutes, and you'll feel a night-and-day difference."
