Foods that Burn Calories
Eating certain foods can help boost your metabolism and burn calories faster.

Milk, Whole Grain Cereal and Oats
These foods contain calcium, complex carbohydrates and fiber, which help keep insulin levels low. Foods that spike insulin levels send signals to the body to store fat.

Researchers found that dieters who consumed between 1,200 mg and 1,300 mg of calcium a day lost nearly twice as much weight as dieters who did not.

Jalapenos, Habaneros and Cayenne Pepper
Capsaicin, the active component of chili peppers, increases heart rate and can boost metabolism by 25 percent. It also helps moderate caloric intake, because the heat of the chili stimulates the part of the brain that registers a sense of satiety, or fullness.

Green Tea and Coffee
Both green tea and coffee contain caffeine, which increases heart rate. The faster your heart beats, the more calories you burn.

EGCG, an anti-oxidant polyphenol and potent extract of green tea, has cancer-fighting and cardiovascular benefits. Studies suggest that it can help increase metabolism and reduce fat storage.

Lean Beef, Pork, Chicken and Turkey
The protein found in lean meat takes more energy to digest than carbohydrates or fat. Researchers found that people who ate a high-protein diet burned twice as many calories in the hours following their meal than those who ate a carbohydrate-rich meal.

Salmon, Tuna and Sardines
Cold water fish, such as salmon, tuna and sardines, are high in omega-3 fatty acids. These healthy fats reduce the levels of leptin, a key hormone for regulating weight and metabolism. Leptin concentrations are low in people with low body fat, and people who eat fish regularly tend to have leptin levels nearly five times lower than those who primarily eat vegetables.

Wearable Workouts
ShaToBu, which stands for Shape Tone Burn, is a new line of shape wear that claims to help burn 12 percent more calories during normal activities, while also streamlining your silhouette. The ribbing of the garment contains resistance bands, which put pressure on muscles and cause them to work harder as the body moves.

Tongue-Tied Newborns
Some infants are born with an abnormal frenulum, a tissue that attaches the tongue to the mouth. If the frenulum is too short, the result is a “tongue-tied” effect, which can affect the child’s ability to breastfeed and later, speak. Pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears demonstrates how doctors fix the problem.

The Ellipti-GO is a low-impact bicycle that emulates running outdoors. Propelled by elliptical motion, it is ideal for those seeking a low-impact workout.

Reverse Oily Hair
Oily, or greasy, hair can be caused by excessive sebum production on the scalp, as well as over-use of shampoo and hair products.

Jonathan Product Green Rootine Brush-On Hair Powder is a quick fix for the grease. It contains talc and aluminum hydroxide, which help absorb oil, dirt pollutants and product buildup from the hair and scalp. The powder serves as a dry shampoo, cleansing the hair and scalp without the use of water. It contains all natural ingredients and is safe for all hair types and colors.
