Celebrity Cucumber Diet
Rumors recently surfaced that actress Jennifer Aniston is on the Cucumber Diet, which consists of eating a cucumber salad that is made up of three medium cucumbers, 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise or sour cream and dill, parsley or basil, three times a day for a week.
"You're only going to be getting about [151 calories per meal]," pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears says. "That's really [low]. You're not going to be able to exercise if you're doing that, because you're going to be too lethargic."
Eating too few calories can be just as unhealthy as eating too many. While the key to losing weight is to burn more calories than you consume, you need to eat enough to have the energy to do so.
"Anytime you try to get super thin really quick, lose a lot of weight really quickly, you do have a tendency to put it right back on afterward," ER physician Dr. Travis Stork says. "You've got to be careful."
Aniston's publicist told RumorFix.com that "Jennifer eats a very healthy diet with many more calories than that per meal."
"I think she's doing the right thing," plastic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon says. "She always looks good."
