Well I'm back from my son's hockey tournament in Seattle. We came third, it was a hard and close last game, the kids did their best and we lost to another Canadian team that went to the final, so that's OK. We also won two gold medals and one bronze in the skills competition, so the boys had a fabulous time and loved the trip. To all my American friends, I have to share that the customer service from the hotel, the restaurants, everyone, was above and beyond all expectations ... everyone was so welcoming and so friendly, ready for anything and extremely helpful. It was really fantastic so a big shout out to the Holiday Inn Express in Lynnwood for their service, if you are ever there, say hello from the Surrey Kings. They were a bit nervous about hosting a hockey team .... little did they know they did not have much to worry about with the kids, it was the grown ups that needed supervision! LOL!! I also bought a fabulous pair of black suede slouchy flat Ugg boots from Nordstrom Rack - super cheap (Thanks Sheryl!!!!), a nice purse and a cute t-shirt.
Now for my results..... well this morning I was the same weight as last Monday, so no gains. That is the good news. The bad news is that I know I got on the scale on Friday and I was down two more, so I gained two over the weekend. I did my best to stay on the diet but it was almost impossible. I brought my yogurt and green tea and had it when I could, but eating team meals at some restaurants made it very hard. We went to one place called Buca on Friday night with the whole team, it's a family style Italian where they bring everything in big platters, you order three or four things for a whole table of 20 or so and everyone shares. Well, the menu was not carb friendly, we had spaghetti (with meat and without), penne with chicken, fettucine alfredo, pesto chicken pizza and chicken and beef short ribs for 20 people. THe food was amazing and there was so much of it at the end, when I saw how much was left I remembered a sign for a homeless shelter near the arena and I asked the parents if they minded if I took the leftovers there, the alternative was all of us sharing them out with our kids likely not eating them anyway. So that's what we did, there was so much food left over it was crazy, a huge bag with ten take out packages - enough food for at least 15 people. The shelter was happy anyway, they knew the restaurant and knew it was awesome food.
That was only one night, the rest of the time I was good. I took SherylK's adviice and we ate at Applebees the next night where I had one of their 550 calorie or less meals, it was really good! I think my 2 pound gain is more water than anything, because even though I chose for the most part low cal meals, there was a lot of salt in everything, I could taste it and I could feel it in my fingers and how my rings felt.
So, today I went back to cycle one and will stay there for at least two weeks. I am going back to the gym tomorrow, back to normal, and the two pounds will be gone by the weekend. Feels good to be back, I missed you guys!

i want to try applebees meals...i love their meals and want to try the 550 calorie ones...
Hi Wriiterchick, glad you had a great weekend. I did alot of the tournament running around when my kids were young. It was alot of fun, but ya, that food.... I think the important thing now and you have realized is that there is going to be temptation everywhere, but you are aware of it and know what you should be eating. If you can't eat "healthy" cuz there's nothing there but of course have to eat, then it would be portion control. I'm off to a baby shower this afternoon and guess what's going to be there....FOOD, so it's the choices that I have to make.
Keep up the good work and keep on pluggin!!! Karen
I wouldn't worry about the 2 pounds. It sounds like you had a great time, and made healthy selections whenever possible. I bet mixing it up will trick your metablolism, and you will go into a good weight loss on cycle 1. I have another week and a half on cycle 3 then on to cycle 1. I find my irregularity in going to the bathroom affects my weight. I was up about a pound today, but I haven't gone in over 3 days. I am working out at least 6 days a week. I am doing the eliptical for at least 40 minutes, walking, and resistance bands every other day.
I have really saggy arms and need to firm them up if it is possible. I am not sure if my skin will ever go back after a lifetime of being stretched beyond the limit.
Glad you are back. I missed hearing from you. It felt like a big empty space. I am going to go hit the eliptical soon. I watch the show "I used to be fat" when on the eliptical if a new show is aired. It is about graduating seniors, but somehow it still inspires me. I can't wait until we all can say "I use to be fat"
I think when we are out of our normal routine we tend to drink less water, which in turn equates to a little weight gain. I bet they come right back off when you get back to your routine.
Don't beat yourself up about the spaghetti. Have a great day, glad your kids did good.
Hi Writerchick, Glad to know you are human too! Glad to hear you are back at it. hang in there! Thanks for taking on being my buddy!
Congrats on the tourney and your successful shopping trip. If you were staying in Lynnwood, Nordstrom Rack was really convenient for you - I'm glad you found a treasure or two.
Don't worry about the 2 pounds, you were out of your routine and your body held onto it's food and water a little more than it has been. It will disappear quickly. ... from Dr SherylK's expert opinion. LOL
