Dress for Success

A good friend of mine just got a job with Dress for Success, an international non profit organization that helps disadvantaged women get back into the workplace by providing them with professional clothing for job interviews.  This is a really wonderful organization, over the years as my weight fluctuated up and down, I've donated clothing to them many times.

With all the weight loss going on here, it is inevitable that there will be a lot of shopping at the end of our journey (I can't wait!)  and that means we will all be clearing a lot of clothes out of our closets.  I would like to suggest that that it would be an amazing act of sisterhood and philanthropy  if once we all reached our goals, instead of throwing away our larger clothes, we donated all of our business clothing (suits, dresses, dress pants, blouses etc)  to this great cause and support women who need help.

Plus sized business suits are very expensive as I am sure most of you already know.  There are thousands of women who have been affected by the economy, maybe their spouses have been laid off and they have to go back into the workforce and become the breadwinner for the family or  maybe they are coming through a divorce and have very limited funds. First impressions are extremely important in job interviews and Dress for Success helps women put their best selves forward.

I am definitely going to do this.  If you are interested, there are chapters all over the US and Canada; you can find a Dress for Success chapter near you by visiting their website at www.dressforsuccess.org

Have a great day everyone!

Lisa

Any casual clothes you want to get rid of??? Check with any local womens resource centers or shelters for domestic violence. Some of these women leave their homes on the spot with only the clothes on their backs.
