I just got done watching the part about school lunches.I think the Health Dept. should watch them closely I know I would want that for my child.It's funny we just had the Health inspector(and no not Larry the cable guy)out to our school 3 days ago.They check everything and we passed.My boss is very strick about enforcing heath and safety issues.

I did not understand why Dr.Jim said about the schools get deals with fast foods.Our district has a dietician and we have to follow the recipes to a tee.But my highschool is the Greastest anyway....Sorry Damsell.

Ahhh. I am a lunch lady in the cafeteria of a middle school in Massapequa, NY.  It's on Long Island.  I love my job.  We have a great cook who works her butt off.  She is kind, compassionate and caring.  She makes you want to show up for work. The board of health comes in about three times a year.  We always pass.  Fast food is banned from the schools and we aren't allowed to sell any carbonated soda.  My school is the best Middle School in America.  How's that Yvonne?  A compromise?  We serve meals that are prepared fresh daily and the menu always includes fresh fruit, veggies and salad.   Some kids take everything, some take the minimum and need to be reminded.  Since we are supplemented by the government, everyone getting a lunch has to have three points on their tray.  A protien, a fruit or veggie, and a carb?  I'm not sure.  All I know is they take stuff they'll never eat because they have to.  Enjoy your lunch!  bobbie
