Hello again,I think it is a miracle that they have come up with this dna test for cancer.I was very impressed with her husband who said she made the right decesion to get the maccestomy. Mamograms do not always show the cancer, and so many women in generations keep dyeing from breast cancer. I loved hearing the doctor say not everyone can get this test, that means it will not be taken for granted or abused. She so looked so happy and content. If Cancer like this ran in my family I would do the test and do excately what she did.

I think that the genetic testing is absolutely wonderful.
It's not easy to decide to get it done, you have to
be prepared to find that out. I have the utmost respect
for the women that go through the testing and the surgeries.
The ladies in my family that have done it are the bravest women
that i know.
I agree, I was also glad to see they are not just going to give the test to give it. I was glad the doctors are screening the canidates.Congratulations to the woman in your family.

And the people voting are voting yes they would do it.
I would take a test. The problem is with some of these tests is the cost. My sister-in-law lost a baby. They did the DNA testing on the baby and found a abnormality in the gene of my brother-in-law. He was missing one. Which was the result of the miscarriage. It had to come from my husband's parents. They are well in their 80's so we did not test which one it came from because at this point it didn't matter to them. My husband did the test because I lost a baby before I had my two children. My husband's DNA was normal. He did not have the abnormal gene. The test cost over $1,300.00 over ten years ago. They just drew blood for the test. Lucky, we had insurance that covered this test. I wonder what the cost is to run this DNA test for breast cancer. It would be worth the cost, though some people without insurance could not afford this testing. If you are thinking about the test, check with your insurance before hand. Insurance companies have many restrictions.
Hello bookworm,You are so right about cost.It would make sense for the insurance to do the test to save money in the long run. and save a life. But they would make to much sense.
Have a great day
