Oh my God I could not beleive thoses maggots..I thought I had a strong stomach but that foot made me sick. But it is amazeing how they are coming up with natural ways to help infections. Have you or anyone you know used maggots?? Just curious.

I know what ya mean about the maggots. I watch all the medical shows on the health
channel an on Trauma one night there was a bum, that kept showing up at the ER. he
was dirty an straggly an when the doctor took his boot off maggots were crawling all over
his leg an foot. They finally talked him into the shower an when he came out the maggots
were gone but the sores on his leg were healed. I don't know if I could stand that. I havn't
caught today's show yet, it's recording, can't wait to see it. Sludge
Sludge; I saw that one .That made me sick also.I felt so sorry for that man.I think about all the people who need help,I am glad he got it treated.
But I am in awe for the things they use to help.Like leaches,and I have heard and saw this man who gets treatment for his arthritis buy letting Bee's sting him.It takes away the pain.
I also believe that there are so many cures for things in the rainforests..

One of my friend actually used maggots to hel one of his lesions on his foot .Its remarkable !!! I went to see him one day when they were changing his dressing . I couldnt help but watch !! Truely amazing !! They use leaches too !! pretty cool stuff I think so . not too much grosses me out.i take that back . one thing makes me nauseas, a dislocated knee. I dont know why but everytime we got called to one ( when I worked on an ambulance) I made my paartner sit in the back allthough I was senior tech. he didnt mind he didnt like the Psych patients so it was a fiar trade LOL\

Hey now Sheilah that was my foot on there!!! Yes, my foot was very bad AFTER surgery but if I could have used maggots first it would never had been so deep and HUGE! Maggots eat only the dead infected tissue and do not touch the good like surgery does. They excrete enzymes to promote healing and they kill all the bacteria too!! Better than anything man can come up with. My insurance paid $40,000 in two years trying to get my ulcers healed maggots did it for under $1,000 They cost $80.00 a treatment and most people only need three or four treatments. These are medically produced maggots(disinfected) and are FDA approved!! Since they are SO cheap(they work for free) I believe that is why it is not used more! Sound like I am trying to sell maggots?? No, I am trying to sell being your own patient advocate at all times. Know you options especially before agreeing to amputation. Do your research. Pam I am so glad it worked.And yes it was amazing when they showed the end results. You are probably right if it was only 1000 dollars that is the reasons they don't use them. Could you feel them on your foot?? That was really deep. I am so glad this worked for you and I hope others see this works.I know a lot of people with diabetes gets a lot of infections and this could work for them or on gangreen. Yes I would do it also.

Hi Sheilah, Thanks for the comments. Ulcer was not deep till after surgery! Surgery cuts the good tissue along with the bad. Maggots eat ONLY the dead infected tissue not touching the good. I did not find out about maggots till after surgery when my docs told me I had no choice I HAD to have foot amputated. I only found out about maggots by chance from a friend the one and only time she watched the Learning Channel. BUT my docs still insisted it would not work for me!! I talked them into it and they did just to shut me up and prove me wrong!! As you know I proved them wrong. Most people including docs do not know all that maggot therapy can do. I have made it my mission in life to help others know about maggot therapy before amputation. Maggot therapy will be in very near future just another option in treating gangrene, pressure ulcers, diabetic ulcers and infected burns. I guess I could go on and on because I hear from too many people losing limbs and lives because doctors were not informed and too busy to do research. Since they became FDA approved it 2004 I have actually became somewhat famous. My feet(pic's) have been around the world. I have been interviewed by newspapers, magazines, radio stations including (S. Africa, UK. etc)I guess I have been called the maggot lady even. Ha!
