Welcome to the site.  I hope we can can help, or at least give you some advice or peace.

I was married for 26 years to an abusive and cheating husband.  After he finally came at me with 5 guns and an ax to my car I ran with my daughter, then age 15 (the other 2 weren't home age 16 & 17) across the street and hid with her behind the neighbors hedge.  The neighbor called the police, and after he threatened him with the ax they placed him under arrest. That was the final straw and moved with the help of a  group of women that the police had called who dealt with domestic abuse.  After he broke into my apartment and stole the gun I had for protection, and then showed up another time pounding on my door, the police arrested him again, and I moved far away.  I packed in 1 1/2 days and was on the road.  My advise is not to stay too close to your former abuser.  Many women have been killed for leaving.   

I met a cop at the airport in 1996.  We dated, and then I moved in with him.  Chance meeting, with good results.  Lived with him 10 1/2 years, and then, finally, we were married Mar. 17, 2007.  He had been married 3 times before, and all of them lasted only 2 to 3 years each.  After 10 years he figured I was here to stay and wasn't like the rest.  I was 62 then.  We have a wonderful life with a beautiful home on an acre and a half of trees with deer, badger, squirrels, many birds, a few non lethal snakes who keep the mice away, and a red fox. 

There is a man out there for you.  I truly believe if you look you won't find.  It comes strictly by accident that you meet "the man".  Just get out and circulate.  Be it going on a trip, going to church, or casual conversation with a stranger. He will come along at the least expected moment when you arent looking.
