About Me
I live in the East Mountains of New Mexico and with a small group of my neighbors, are developing community gardens and a worm farm. We just became a non-profit corporation, call Root 66 Community Gardens. We are currently upgrading the Outdoor Classroom at Roosevelt Middle School with raised garden beds and a 3000 gallon water catchment system, paid for by a Bernalillo County Neighborhood Outreach Grant. We maintain about 100,000 worms in 50 bins on a friend's property in a small metal shed, and harvest about 300 gallons of worm castings to sell in local nurseries every 10 weeks. We love being out in the fresh air growing native plants, pollinators, and vegetables, taking care of worms, and teaching our community how to have fun, return to making good soil, preserve and catch water, and grow your own food, flowers, and herbs.
