Dangers of Dancing en Pointe

"So You Think You Can Dance" judge Nigel Lythgoe joins The Doctors to address a dancing concern that he fears could affect his 9-year-old granddaughter — a professional ballerina who is being trained to go en pointe — a classical ballet technique whereby a dancer braces all body weight on the tips of fully extended feet. Pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears explains when children can safely dance en pointe, as well as the potential health risks that ballerinas face from practicing the technique too early.
