Well on August 18th, I started taking the medication Chantix to help me win the battle. The Dr. said I will not feel any changes for the first 10 days or so but to continue smoking. Day one and day two sucked on this medication. The pains and the nausea were very hard to handle. But I managed. I am now getting ready to take today's dose. I'm a little on the scared side. I hate feeling sick, but I really need the help to quit smoking. I am a single mom to a precious little 6yr old. I am all she has, so I need to live as long as I can. Both lung cancer and heart disease seem to run in my family. I am 38 yrs old and I do not want to die. I am going to write in the blog daily. Writing and seeing what I have written helps me see how bad I really do need to quit. Here goes Dose #3. I surely hope I don't get sick again. But either way, I am determined to quit this time and for good. Until tomorrow.

Hi Jill,
I am proud as many will be here that you
are trying to quit. I tried the Chantix once
but had an allergic reaction to it. Have you
tried eating before you take it? You can ask
your doc or the pharmacist if there's anything
that will help the nausea. I don't understand
the pain part but there are several stop smoking
methods out there, you are not stuck to this one.
Best of luck to you, I have a blog that may be of
some help an encouragement if you'd like to read
it. Sludge
Thank you, Sludge, for the kind words. I have tried eating before taking the Chantix, I take it with a full glass of water and still it makes me literally sick. The Dr. said that it will pass, try cutting the dose in half. I cannot take the Zyban/Wellbutrin. I have tried it, I had severe side effects. It made me anorexic. I was binging and purging w/o realizing what I was doing. My former boss had noticed and brought it to my attention. I'm allergic to the adhesive on the patch, I've tried the inhaler and the gum. I am not going to let a little nausea and stomach cramps get in my way. They only last a few hours. Everyone I know that has used Chantix, has had success on quitting. I will check out your blog.
Take care,
Jill
