About Me
I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis/Painful Bladder Syndrome and Fibromyalgia in 2004. I was diagnosed with depression, runs in my family a few years before. I had to go on disability after losing my job due to my illness. I tried to go back to work but my short term memory is terrible, both Fibromyalgia and Depression contribute to that so after a year, I finally relented and applied for disability. I thought I had a bladder infection and was treated, but after treatment didn't help, my very knowledgeable doctor suggested I might have IC, he was correct. Many with IC go to a a lot of doctors before getting a correct diagnosis. Many doctors still don't believe that IC or Fibromyalgia really exist and not in your head. I wish they had to run to the bathroom tens of times a day and I always plan going anywhere based on if I can find a bathroom close by. Some people have to go 60 or more times a day. I am lucky and on a good day I might make it 1-2 hours, today 2-3 times an hour. That alone makes you unemployable, who wants to pay you when you spend half of their day in and out of the restroom, then add memory problems forget it, add Fibromyalgia which makes it hard to get comfortable to sleep, some days moving is almost impossible, think of how you feel the day after you do any physical activity that you don't normally due or you work out for the very first time. I really feel that if when they discuss bladder problems, IC should be included; it would help a lot of people.

Absolutely right about chemicals! During years working in alternative medicine, and in regular medicine, some things became pretty clear cause and effect. The VA Hosp I worked in, bent on grabbing research grant money, ended up contaminating the building. On paper, the reason half the building was raised, was "Seizmic instability"; but the UNofficial, under-the-table reasons for destroying the building included massive air duct contamination resulting in most patients and staff developing what the clinic called "extrinsic asthma", and, radiation contamination of unspecified types and amounts--the other half of the building was left standing and is still in use--there were no air duct contaminations nor radiation implant sources used there.
We contacted the FDA regarding formaldehyde [years ago] re: carpets-that took over 10 years to outgas enough for many chemically sensitive persons to be around. FDA rep said "If no one complains, there is no problem"; and, in a following letter, he stated that his office only counted "one" formal complaint for every one thousand carpet fume complaint letters people actually sent. Get a clue why it might take so long before any action is taken to stop a health hazard? The FDA is also influenced by big money lobbyists from chemical corporations/industries. Safety laws/rules are written to protect companies, not people-that is relevant to why OSHA was gutted long ago.
