You ca't let a few people scare you. If we all don't imminize our kids we will have all these awful disease back in our country. There are so many conflicting report out there that contradict each other. When my two kids (11 yrs. and 5 yrs. were born the question wasn't even ask do you or don't you want the shots but nothing happened not even so much as a fever I was told how ever to give my kids a age appropriate dose of Tylonal before I brought them into the doctors office.
Yes this show did freak me out a bit, but I have a 7 month old and as of right now he is up to date on all of his shots. Granted my huband and I have decided to split them up. They are supposed to get I think 4-5 shots at once so what we do is get 2 one month then go back a month later to get the other 2. When it comes time for his MMR shot I am going to as if they can split them up as well and spread it out over 3 months instead of getting it done all at once. As of right now my son is progressing and does not show any signs of Autism. He started to crawl at 6 months and now he is standing up on his own holding on to things. I will still continue to keeo a close eye on him, but if you are that worried about the shots as my husband and I were then I would split them up.
All parents should be a little freaked out because no one is giving clear answers and there are so many opinions on autism. My 2 1/2 year old grandson was diagnosed with autism at 2 but my daughter had to push to get the diagnosis. Her pediatrician told her to not even bother till he was at least 3, but everything you read tells you to get help as early as possible. There are several good books on autism. I personally like Jenny McCarthy's. All I can say is you need to research, research, research! My daughter is pregnant with her second child (and yes, this will be her last) and she will get her child vaccinated but on a slower schedule and find a doctor who will give "green" vaccines. She had to go through 4 pediatricians before she found one who will work with her beliefs but they are out there. Remember 1 in 150 children develop autism so why take the chance.
I believe my grandson had a gene which predisposed him to autism and the vaccines were the trigger. There are signs to look for in you family history, such as ADD, ADHD, candida and others. The best thing to do is read all you can and follow your heart. Much luck to you!
Let's think about this logically. If vaccinations caused autism, EVERY SINGLE child that was EVER given an immunization would have some form of autism. Since this is clearly not the case, I think that freaking out is uncalled for. Every parent should watch their child's development closely and talk to their doctor or local Early Intervention Program (Part C of I.D.E.A.) about any concerns.
And as for diagnosis, autism in some areas of the U.S. is being over diagnosed. The diagnoisis should only be made by a specialist, nota family doctor. And by the way, not every child with language, sensory, or social quirks has an autism spectrum disorder.
For parents with these quirky children, the lavel of autism has become an easy catch all..... and many doctors are too quick to apply the label instead of working through the symptoms and concerns and then provide a differential diagnosis.
So, in humingbirdindy's way of thinking if you have risk factors for cancer, high blood pressure, etc. you should go ahead and smoke, over eat, etc. because you're going to get sick anyway.
Vaccines are only one trigger factor but they are one that can be changed by making them safe. It was medical professionals who told us not to get my grandson diagnosed but when we pushed and had him evaluated at Vanderbilt University Hospital gee, we were right. I watched him go from a healthy, verbal toddler to a zombie after having his immunization shots and even if he was going to develop autism, I believe the severity is directly related to the shots. Until researcher stop trying to tell us what doesn't cause it and find out what does I'll listen to the parents who are experiencing this first hand.
