Today, as I usually do, I watched the Doctors TV Show. This Show has been so informative for so many of us viewers. However today (1/23/13) they gave the best truth and hope for all of us to know. They pointed out what I've always wondered about and asked over and over but was never given an answer:
WHY DOES OUR HEALTHCARE COST SO MUCH!?
The problem is not the cost of the insurance or financial avenues needed to pay our medical bills, but the source of the cost that make medical bills so high. Today the Doctors revealed that doctors are suggesting unneeded tests, medicine and operations. Finally we have a public proclamation to the real reason for these outrageous costs.
As with our utilities services, states have a control to keep we, the consumer from being gouged. However, this would cause an extreme medical/financial breakdown to impose such measures upon the medical profession in one swoop, right now. However, we have general agencies, such as the Better Business Bureau that certify certain businesses so the consumer doesn't get taken. The Doctors, as I have said over and over, stated that we need to mention agencies that have the integrity to certify doctors, and medial agencies; much like Angie's List does for the general consumer.
My hats off to The Doctors and I can only hope that ABC will pass this “Hot Topic” on to their other Talk Shows, such as The View, etc. We need this question and concern to go viral!

I watched the doctors today and can say I have seen first hand doctors who over treat and are being bought out by large groups and hospital chains.
I work for a very large chain whom has created a large group of physicians that has them meeting quotas. I am not a nurse I am a scheduler. Most doctors do not order the right test or order too many. It is frustrating seeing all spending and over treatment. I have seen many patients who might have a rib xray or blood test for one thing and that thing is not found but the patients are never told they are anemic or have an xray showing copd. They are not being followed up on either. Mostly because they don't want their patient going to a specialist for treatment. It is sick. Hospitals will always offer big discounts so always ask and ask.
I am SO glad that The Doctors program has brought this problem to a large public viewing! I am concerned about my local medical facility also! In my opinion there has been some serious issues with surgeries performed on 3 family members that has either gone wrong or created another serious medical problem. My sister-n-law has had multiple surgeries that I question plus 2 surgeries for a total hip joint replacement on the same hip & is still having problems & pain levels higher than before she had the surgery! I even accused one of the doctors in a group of wasting my time, my money & possibly scamming my insurance company by unnecessary cross over appointments! Needless to say I haven't seen him since! It is unfortunate that the practices that this facility demonstrates toward our community have been so negative because there really are some good doctors who work there! Thank You for bringing this issue to the Public!
